Magickal Oils of Indonesian Shamanism Part 2

NOTE: The following description of magical oils contains foreign words and phrases (Javanese/Arabic/Indonesian) – they have not been translated in order to properly identify the oils and the spells/prayers associated with them.

Istanbul Myak

Istanbul oil is a more common type of magic and is readily sold in Arab communities across Indonesia, especially worn by Islamic teachers. It comes in different grades, the good grades have a very pungent but fragrant smell. Once smelled it is almost never forgotten. It remains a lasting memory. The smell is very persistent, sometimes lingering on a person for days, and some say it can be smelled from 20 feet away – though that may be a bit of an exaggeration. Because of its spiciness, not many people identify with it, saying it makes people dizzy.

Minyak Istanbul, although used as a common perfume among educators of Islam, was also used by shamans as a potent oil for romantic, sexual attraction and charm purposes. When one’s personal energy and thought-form are empowered, anyone within range of the scent will not only look in our direction, but feel drawn and eager to connect with us. The opposite sex finds us pretty or good looking. Pure Istanbul oil is hard to come by and most of the products sold in the market are diluted and mixed with other oils.

Minyak Sinyong-Nyong

(Si)-Nyong-nyong is one of Dayak’s many miraculous essential oils. This minyak originated from the Iban tribe. This is a rare miraculous love oil that is used primarily by the natives of Kalimantan to keep their spouses faithful, although it is also used by both men and women for other matters related to the heart.

It is said that men under the influence of this oil will never commit adultery, even under the wildest temptations that fairer sexes can throw at them.
