Athletic departments and admissions offices evaluate videos and read applications to find a fit for their program. In other words, college athletics and the pursuit of scholarships is a lot of work, but like everything else in life worth having, the road is tough and the rewards are great.

Here are some basic basics that can help young athletes get started on the right foot.

Time management

The life of a student athlete is full. The days are filled with morning practices, classes, practices, evening practices, study halls, games, trips, etc. The sooner young student-athletes figure out how to balance their activities and bring their A game every day, the better off they will be when the time is right. A student-athlete must put his work first and be willing to sacrifice extra time and energy to do an excellent job.
